BeGod

Fermented Plant Compound with Phytonutrients

Introducing our 2005 new ingredient, named BeGod, phytonutrients made of more than 50 varieties of plants selected by Dr. Kushi with his Modern Macrobiotic Theories (www.michiokushi.org), fermented by Japanese fermentation technology, after years of study and trials in the land of Brazil.

Definition of Phytonutrient:

Currently the term is used to describe those plant compound which are thought to have health-protecting qualities. The antioxidant, immune boosting and other health promoting properties of active compounds in plants are being investigated. Phytonutrients that are being studied presently include (and not limited) terpenes, carotenoids, limonoids and phytosterols.

Thousands of phytonutrients have been isolated and characterized from plants, including fruits and vegetables. The isolated phytonutrients are grouped into distinct classes by the number and kinds of constructive atoms and the structures of the basic skeleton.

Biological Activities:

Phytonutrients derived from plants have provided the basis for numerous commercial medications used today for the treatment of a wide range of diseases such as high blood pressure, pain, asthma and cancers. For instance, ephedrine is used in the commercial pharmaceutical preparations for the relief of asthma symptoms and other respiratory problems.

How do Phytonutrients work?

There are many phytonutrients and each works differently. These are possible actions of phytonutrients.

Antioxidant - Most phytonutrients have antioxidant activity and protect our cells against oxidative damage and reduce the risk of developing certain types of cancer. Phytonutrients with antioxidant activity: allyl sulfides (onions, leeks, garlic), carotenoids (fruits, carrots), flavonoids (fruits, vegetables), polyphenols (tea, grapes).

Hormonal ActionIsoflavons, found in soy, imitate human estrogens and help to reduce menopausal symptoms and osteoporosis.

Stimulation of Enzymes - Indoles, found in cabbages, stimulate enzymes that make the estrogen less effective and could reduce the risk of breast cancer. Other phytonutrients, which interfere with enzymes, are protease inhibitors (soy and beans), terpenes (citrus fruits and cherries).

Interference with DNA replication - Saponins found in beans interfere with the replication of cell DNA, thereby preventing the multiplication of cancer cells. Capsaicin, found in peppers, protects DNA from carcinogens.

Anti-bacterial effect - Allicin from garlic has anti-bacterial properties.

Application of BeGod:

BeGod is available both in liquid and powder form. It is used as a major ingredient for health supplements. It is also used as a health-promoting ingredient for various types of health conscious food products such as in food bars, cereals, sauces, natural juices, dairy products and so on. The recommended dosage of BeGod is 6 grams per day both for liquid and powder.

Manufacturing Process of BeGod-Original Liquid:

All ingredients as raw material are rigorously selected to verify good hygienic condition.

The fruits are washed with mineral water and brushed. The peelings and seeds of fruits are removed. The fruits are cut and weighed, and then triturated with a grinder.

The grains are milled and weighed, and then cooked in mineral water for 4 hours.

The herbs are weighed and washed with mineral water. Then, they are boiled in mineral water for 1 hour. After this, they are bolstered.

Finally, all ingredients are mixed together following the recipe, which includes 2% of yeast.

To start the fermentation, the mixture is allowed to sit for 3 days at ambient temperature.

The whole fermentation process takes 90 to 120 days.

In the first week the composition is mixed once a day. For the remaining fermentation time, the mixture is stirred once a week.

As result of the fermentation process, the pH of the mixture sinks from pH 5.30 to pH 3.45.

Due to the long duration of the fermentation, the alcohol produced by the yeast evaporates. At the end of the process the yeast cells autolyze and are no longer detectable.
